Women 'becoming more confident with power tools'

Women 'becoming more confident with power tools' Women appear to be more effective at picking up power tools and completing DIY jobs around the home, it has been claimed.

National Home Improvement Show expert Julia Kendell suggested that women tend to be 'natural DIYers' and are becoming more comfortable being involved in projects, easier.com reported.

'The stereotypical line between home improvement ability and the type of tasks each sex traditionally would complete have become much more blurred and many projects now are more of collaboration between men and women,' she commented.

Ms Kendell also told the website that women who are not yet fully confident carrying out DIY should start slowly and attempt to find the kind of power tools they are most comfortable operating.

Furthermore, she advised them to thoroughly research any jobs before they start them, to avoid making mistakes which are difficult to rectify later.

Last week, the North County Times advised people to avoid using their tools during the hottest part of the day during dry spells, to reduce the risk of sparks causing fires.
