Roadshow to help explain EU noise regulations

Roadshow to help explain EU noise regulations

The manufacturers' organisation EEF and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have developed a roadshow to help explain new EU regulations on noise and vibration.

Many of the new rules come into force this month and will affect the majority of construction businesses.

Chief executive of the engineering federation EEF East Midlands Bob Watson told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: "The roadshow will be geared to offering guidance on how to manage the risks along with practical solutions."

He said: "The HSE estimates that more than 1.1 million people are at risk from high levels of noise and about 1.7 million from hand arm vibration. Our roadshow, which takes the form of a series of regional seminars, will give employers a unique opportunity to talk to experts from the HSE and ask questions on issues that concern them.

"In the meantime, we're continuing to offer specific advice to companies on their obligations on a day to day basis and, as knowledge of the new regulations grows, we are receiving increasing numbers of inquiries."
