Outdoor DIY products' saw better retail performance' in June

Outdoor DIY products' saw better retail performance' in June Retail sales of outdoor DIY products appear to have improved in the UK last month, it has been suggested.

Power tools users might be interested to note the findings of new research published by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) and KPMG, which hints that the summer sunshine may have encouraged sales in this area.

Many people appear to have focused on the outdoor environment last month, BRC director general Stephen Robertson noted.

'The Budget is affecting confidence but it won't be until the impact of the measures is actually felt that it really hits spending,' he added.

In total, the BRC and KPMG research has found that a 3.4 per cent increase in retail sales was seen over the course of the June 2010 period, compared to the same month of last year.

Last month, Mr Robertson suggested that the government's decision to raise VAT was not a welcome move.
