Homeowners 'often favouring building professionals over DIY'
A number of UK homeowners appear to prefer opting for professional building workers when it comes to making property improvements, rather than conducting their own DIY work. That is according to Duncan Hayes, Build It magazine's editor, who believes that for many consumers, it is easier to hire a professional when it comes to important work.
Rather than picking up their own power tools and having a go, Mr Hayes suggests: 'They feel that they earn the money and they would rather spend it paying someone to fix their leaks than buying some plumbing tools.'
However, the expert went on to say that simpler improvements might still be undertaken by property owners, such as erecting some new shelves.
He was speaking after the publication of Screwfix survey results, showing that DIY was not a popular option for six out of ten men polled.
