Gardens 'popular areas' for DIY home improvements
Gardens are among the areas that people might be aiming to focus on this summer when making DIY enhancements to their homes, it is suggested, which may interest those looking to invest in new power tools. The potential for a good summer might be encouraging consumers to give some thought to the outdoor parts of their properties, according to Andrew Leech, National Home Improvement Council director.
'People are looking forward to a nice summer and are not concentrating so much on what needs to be done inside the house,' he said.
In particular, improvements to patios and decking areas could be taken into consideration by householders, Mr Leech added.
Meanwhile, the expert also expressed his belief that people should prioritise spending their money on DIY instead of holidays this summer.
Last month, Halifax research suggested that homeowners had spent an average sum of £6,362 on property improvements in the previous year.
