Halogen lighting has become very popular over the last few years with many applications using this type of lamp. Generally tubes are used in Floodlamp applications, normally outdoors, whilst Spotlamps are generally used in decorative and general lighting applications indoors.

For most indoor applications two types of Spotlamp are used. 12v DC lamps utilise a transformer, powered from the mains, and this reduces the voltage and converts it from 230v AC to 12v DC. These lamps are ideal for installation in locations such as bathrooms, although they appear in othe rdomestic and commercial applications.
